Christopher G. Foster was associated with the New York law firm of Rogers & Wells and the Los Angeles law firm of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips prior to joining Smiland, Khachigian, & Chester's predecessor in 1992.

Mr. Foster's expertise lies in the areas of water rights, air quality, endangered species, and environmental and natural resource law, as well as general business litigation.

Mr. Foster has challenged the environmental, economic and constitutional appropriateness of an air permit trading scheme (RECLAIM) on behalf of a metals industry alliance; has represented farmers and manufacturers in major cases related to the San Fernando Valley, San Gabriel Valley and Purity Oil Superfund sites; and handles private and public matters concerning soil and groundwater contamination for Smiland, Khachigian, & Chester's clients.
